What is Latisse™ and what does it do?™
Latisse (bimatoprost) a topical prescription product from Allergan (the makers of Botox and Juvederm), is the first and only scientifically proven product approved by the FDA to stimulate eyelashes to grow longer and thicker. It is prescription and therefore only available through physicians. Latisse is now available at Ava Med Spa.
Latisse™ is a prescription eye drop for glaucoma which was discovered to also stimulate eyelash growth in patients using it. Brooke Shields is Allergan's spokesperson for Latisse and uses it herself.
How often do I use LATISSE™ and does it work?
LATISSE™ works effectively. Clinically proven results you can see over time.
LATISSE™ is FDA approved and effective. It's a once-a-day treatment you apply topically to the base of your upper eyelashes. Patients in a clinical trial saw results in as few as 8 weeks with full results after 12 to 16 weeks.
It's an innovation backed by research. While LATISSE™ is a new treatment for inadequate or not enough eyelashes, it was developed through years of research by Allergan, a pharmaceutical leader with over 60 years of expertise in prescription eye care products.
Once your lashes reach the desired length and thickness, you may use Latisse 2-3 times per week will then maintain this desired length. Latisse can also stimulate eyebrow growth in some patients.
Safety
When used as directed on the eyelids for eyelash growth, Latisse has been proven safe with no serious adverse events reported. Side effects were typically limited to temporary redness of the eye or eyelids. When used in the eye daily for glaucoma treatment, other side effects have been reported such as darkening of the skin under the eyes or the irises. See package insert for more details.
